Have you ever heard the term “jumping the shark?” It refers to the “Happy Days” 2-part episode where a leather-jacketed water-skiing Fonz attempts to Eval Knieval it over a shark tank. “Jumping the shark” is used when something on TV goes past the point of no return.
I hope I’m not about to do that with our television commercials.
For years now people have been teasing us about our “we travel the world” slogan and how THEY want to do the traveling. So on my flight over here last week, I thought, “I should do a goof on our normal commercials as an April Fools gag.”
And now I have.
Yeah, I REALLY do say “ha, ha” to you for not being a swinging paisely-clad Londoner like me
Who’s to say if it’ll work or if anyone will see it or if it will ruin the slogan for all time, but what the hey. If you DO see it and I look a little green around the gills…don’t adjust your TV set. Yesterday as I was putting “double cream” in my coffee I noticed it all floated clumpily up to the top and I thought, “gosh, this English cream sure is weird.” And I drank it.
And then I drank 4 more clumpy-creamed cups of coffee.
So to any fellow Mensa-rejects out there…two things you need to learn from this post. Never jump a shark AND Clumpy London Creame is NOT General Foods newest International Coffee.
Happy April Fools from a queasy London fool.
