Have you ever written an email, sent it out, then BANG!…things started happening that you didn’t expect or intend.
Yeah, I have, too. WAY more than once. And I’ve done it again, but at least this time it ended well without tears and heated family discussions ruining Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I sent an email to an acquaintance who knows my local congressman. I wanted to see if Sam Farr would come to the ribbon-cutting of my new garden shop in May. (I know, kinda over-reaching, but HEY! I thought…here’s some good news for a change from one of his constituents).
The next thing I know, I have reporters calling from all over the place. Literally. That email got forwarded around and before ya know it NPR, as in NATIONAL Public Radio, does a story. The Monterey Herald does a story. On the FRONT page, no less. And I even got a call from the CBS Evening News.
(Now I’m not holding my breath on that one…my ego isn’t inflated enough to think the world sees Homescapes as interesting enough to take up Katie Couric-adjacent space on the airwaves.)
But still…Heck! The CBS Evening News! I was talking to a reporter from the CBS Evening News!
Man, who knew? All I did was hit “send.”
